Cheap
Cheap (adj) means 'not expensive". Their cars are dirt
cheap (=very low in price). I bought the cheapest car
in town. Cheap (adv) means "at a low price". I was
glad to get it so cheap. Diamond rings like that don't
come cheap. They are expensive. Cheapen is to make
someone seem to have less respect or to make
something to become lower in price or value. As a
doctor, I'd be cheapening myself by doing TV
commericals. The dollar's rise in value has cheapened
imports. Cheapskate (n) is someone who does not like
spending money.

Cheat (v) 欺騙 means "to trick, to deceive, to behave
in a dishonest way to get an advantage." Tim always
cheats at manjong. Tim was caught cheating on the
driving test. The salesman in this department store
cheated me out of 5 bucks. Cheating on husband is to
be unfaithful to your husband. You secretly have sex
with someone else. I think Tim is cheating on his wife
again. Cheat (n) or cheater is someone who cheats.

Check (v) 檢查 is to look at or test something
carefully. I need to check the mailbox; I'm expecting
an email from my girlfriend. It's a good idea to check
for spelling mistakes before we send out these
newsletters. Please, check with David to see if you can
leave early. Check (n) 支票is a set of printed pieces of
paper that you can sign and use to pay for things. It
also means a bill, a control or an examination. I got a
check of $5 from Tim. Can I pay by check? Did you
cash the check? Did you get cash in exchange for the
