bail-balk

bail n/v
保釋金 Money exchanged for the release of an arrested
person as a guarantee of that person's appearance for trial.
Help someone get out of trouble, especially by giving
him/her money. Examples: Tim's father posted bail (=paid
the bail) for him. Tim was released on bail (=let out of
prison when bail was paid) until his trial. Tim's family paid
$1500 to bail him out. Tim expects his parents to bail him
out for his fiancial issues.

bait
餌引誘物,誘餌,圈套 n a temptation; food or other lure
placed on a hook or in a trap to catch fish, birds, or other
animals. Example: Plenty of people took the bait and lost
their life savings. David refused to be baited into saying
anything bad about his boss.

bale n
大包 a large amount of something such as paper or hay
that is tied tightly together. Example: He left a bale of hay
at my door.

balk v
畏怯,猶豫; 妨礙 To stop short and refuse to go on.
Example: Customers balked at paying $25 for a bar of
chocolate.
